If you want to grow raspberries, then you need to pick the best season when to plant them.

Normally, only two seasons are suitable for that - fall and spring.

Let's find out more.

Spring Planting

Planting raspberries in the spring allows the roots to establish themselves before the onset of hot summer temperatures.

It is important to wait until the soil is workable and not overly wet or frozen.

Therefore, your plant can become strong enough during summer to survive winter better.

Spring planting provides the advantage of a full growing season ahead, allowing the plants to develop and produce berries in the same year or the following year.

Fall Planting

In some regions, fall planting can be advantageous for raspberries.

Planting in late summer or early fall allows the raspberry plants to establish their root systems before winter dormancy.

Cooler temperatures and ample moisture during the fall season aid in root development and prepare the plants for vigorous growth in the following spring.

Fall-planted raspberries may not produce a significant harvest in the first year, but are likely to yield a bountiful crop in the subsequent year.
