When using your washing machine for a long time, you can notice its washing powder tray becoming dirty.

It can affect the quality of washing, and it can also lead to breakage, so it's better to fix it regularly.

Here's how you can do it without damaging your washing machine.

Remove the Tray

Most washing machines have a detergent tray that's easy to remove. Gently pull it out from the machine.

You may need to press a button or release a latch to detach it.

Rinse with Warm Water

Take the tray to your sink. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water to remove loose detergent and other residues.

A gentle stream of warm water should suffice.

Soak in Soapy Water

Fill a basin or sink with warm, soapy water. Submerge the detergent tray in the soapy water and allow it to soak for a while, typically 15-20 minutes.

This will help loosen any stubborn detergent or grime.

Scrubbing

After soaking, use a brush or an old toothbrush to scrub the tray.

Pay close attention to the compartments and any crevices where residues might accumulate.

Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse the detergent tray with clean, warm water to remove any soap residue from the soaking and scrubbing.

Dry Completely

Ensure that the detergent tray is completely dry before reinserting it into your washing machine. You can use a clean, dry cloth to wipe it if needed.

Run a Test Cycle

To be extra sure there's no soap residue left that could affect your laundry, run an empty washing machine cycle (without any clothes) with hot water.

This will help clean the interior of the machine as well.

Conclusion

Regularly cleaning your detergent tray ensures that your washing machine functions properly and that your laundry is cleaned effectively without any leftover residue or mold growth.
