While a vegan diet might be not for everyone, it can actually be quite beneficial - and a new experiment proves it.

The newest experiment found that following a vegan diet for just 8 weeks can improve cardiovascular health.

Here's what they've discovered.

An exciting twin experiment

The scientists conducted the experiment with 22 pairs of identical twins to control for genetic and environmental factors.

The twins grew up in the same conditions and had similar lifestyles, making it easier to isolate the effects of the diet.

The experiment compared a vegan diet, which excludes all animal products, with an omnivore diet that included non-vegan products.

Both diets were pretty healthy, rich in vegetables, legumes, fruits, and whole grains.

The vegan group showed significant improvements in their cardiovascular health, including lower levels of LDL cholesterol, insulin, and body weight compared to the omnivores.

The researchers also noted that the most significant changes occurred in the first 4 weeks of the diet change.

Why it's important

The experiment highlights that adopting a more plant-based diet, even if not strictly vegan, can have positive health benefits, such as reducing the risk of heart disease and improving overall well-being.
