It is generally accepted that cats are rather aloof and indifferent to humans. However, this is not the case, and animals show affection for humans.

Research results

According to a study published in Animal Cognition, cats respond not only to raised tones of voice, but also to normal human speech.

Cats are more likely to respond to "cat speech" when a person speaks to an animal as if to a child, in high voices. Since such sounds are easier and more familiar to fluffy pets to perceive.

However, cats are able to respond to the usual voice of the owner and even recognize it. Since in the course of research, cats did not react in any way to “cat speech” from strangers. This also demonstrates that the animal is able to distinguish between unfamiliar voices and the voice of its owner.

Cats are less studied than dogs, as these animals experience more stress during research.

However, this study suggests that cats are much more attached to humans than we used to think.
