If you don't want your garden to be just for fruits and vegetables, but also for beauty and relaxation, then you need trees!

Huge decorative trees can transform your garden, but it takes time and effort to grow them.

Here are a few tips on how to plant and take care of decorative garden trees.

Preparing the Soil

Ensure the soil is loose and well-aerated. Amend it with organic matter like compost if needed.

Good soil preparation promotes healthy root development.

Digging the Planting Hole

Dig a hole that is as deep as the root ball but two to three times wider.

This encourages the roots to spread easily.

Keep the sides of the hole rough to facilitate root penetration.

Removing the Tree from the Container

Gently tap the sides and bottom of the container to loosen the tree.

Carefully slide the tree out, avoiding damage to the roots. If the tree is root-bound, tease the roots apart.

Placing the Tree in the Hole

Position the tree in the center of the hole at the same depth it was in the container.

Ensure the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface.

Backfilling with Soil

Fill the hole with the soil you removed, tamping it down gently as you go to eliminate air pockets.

Water the tree periodically while filling to settle the soil.

Creating a Watering Basin

Build a slight berm around the tree's outer edge to form a watering basin.

This helps direct water toward the root zone.

Mulching

Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the tree, leaving a gap around the trunk.

Mulch helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature.

Watering and Maintenance

Water the tree thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the establishment period.

Monitor for pests or diseases and address them promptly.

Recently, we talked about rare tulip varieties.
