Too high maintenance: Plants that aren't that easy to grow

If you're a keen gardener, then you probably aren't afraid of challenges from time to time.

But if you're new to it, then you need to know that some plants require way more work than others.

Here are some examples of them.

Hydrangeas

They require consistent watering, especially during hot and dry periods. 

Some varieties require specific soil conditions or pH levels to produce desired flower colors. 

Orchids

They often have specific temperature, humidity, and light requirements. 

Orchids need careful watering, as they are susceptible to root rot. 

Japanese Maples

They prefer well-drained soil, regular watering, and protection from extreme temperatures and wind. 

Some varieties may require pruning to maintain their desired form.

Delphiniums

They need well-drained soil, consistent watering, and staking to support their tall stalks. 

Deadheading spent flowers is essential to promote new blooms and prevent self-seeding.

Fuchsias

They prefer partial shade, regular watering to keep the soil moist, and protection from strong winds. 

Regular pinching or pruning is necessary to encourage bushy growth and abundant flowering.

Lawns

Lawns require regular mowing, watering, fertilizing, and weed control. 

They may also need aeration, overseeding, and pest management to stay in good condition.
