A reusable bottle gets dirty quickly and builds up bacteria. Improper cleansing can lead to indigestion.

How often to clean a refillable bottle

Wash your refillable bottle after each use.

If you are using a smoothie or juice bottle, it is important to thoroughly clean the inside of the container.

Tea, coffee or juices can spoil and cause mold.

Since the particles of drinks and bacteria stick to the walls of the bottle, it is not so difficult to clean it.

What you need

  • Baking soda;
  • Dishwashing liquid;
  • Clean toothbrush or special bottle brush;

Pour out any remaining liquid before cleaning.

Don't forget to clean the lid.

Cleansing methods

If the instructions say your bottle is dishwasher safe, place it on the top shelf.

If the dishwasher is not suitable, follow these steps:

  • Rinse the bottle with warm, clean water.
  • To clean the inside, use dish soap, baking soda, and a toothbrush.
  • Rinse the bottle to remove soap and dirt residue.
  • Leave the bottle to dry without a lid.

If your refillable bottle is particularly dirty, use the soak method:

  • Fill the bottle with hot water.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
  • Soak the bottle for at least an hour, preferably overnight.

After soaking with baking soda, clean with dishwashing detergent and a brush.
