A wooden board needs special and regular care, as the material is porous and absorbs liquids. In this article, you will learn how to properly clean and disinfect a wood cutting board.
First, you need to clean the board with a sponge and dish soap.
To disinfect, make a solution of 1 gallon of water and 1 tablespoon of bleach and bleach.
You can either soak the wooden board in the mortar for 2-3 minutes or saturate the surface with the mixture.
During this time, the solution will destroy the harmful bacteria that have accumulated in the board.
After soaking, the board should be thoroughly rinsed with warm water and dishwashing detergent.
Finally, blot the surface on both sides with a paper towel or cloth. Leave the board to dry in a ventilated place.
The part where the board used to stand during drying may begin to blacken. Of course, this is due to dampness in the part of the board where the moisture has collected. These are signs of mold.
When the presence of mold is already clearly noticeable, then in order to get rid of the fungus, it is necessary to perform grinding to remove the affected layers of wood. After that, it is treated with special agents that kill the fungus.
However, it is easier to replace the board with a new one.
