Solvents such as acetic acid, ammonia solution or hydrogen peroxide are contraindicated. The same goes for abrasives like baking soda.
Freshwater pearls cannot be cleaned in sea water, and sea pearls cannot be cleaned in fresh water.
Grate a tablespoon of baby soap and add it to the water. Mix everything well with a spoon.
Immerse the jewelry in the solution for no more than 10 minutes and gently wipe all the beads with a soft cloth soaked in the same solution.
Remove the product, blot it with a dry cloth and polish it.
Remove any dirt from the decoration. Add liquid soap to a container with warm water (25–30%) and beat into foam. Place the pearls in this solution for 10-15 minutes.
Rinse off any remaining soap from the jewelry by changing the clean water in the bath 2-3 times.
Freshwater pearl jewelry can be immersed in a soapy solution for 8-12 minutes. After which, also gently rinse with running water.
When cleaning pearls, do not use brushes or other hard cleaning devices. Abrasive materials can damage fragile nacre.
