Dishwashers make our lives much easier, but they can't completely replace good old-fashioned dishwashing in the sink.
Some dishes should not be washed in the dishwasher as this may damage them.
Here are a few examples of things you should clean by hand.
Wooden spoons, cutting boards, or other utensils can warp, crack, or become damaged in the dishwasher due to the high heat and prolonged exposure to water.
Fine silverware or silver-plated utensils may tarnish or become discolored in the dishwasher due to the harsh detergents and high heat.
Utensils with non-stick coatings, such as non-stick pans or spatulas, may lose their non-stick properties if repeatedly washed in the dishwasher. The dishwasher's heat and abrasive detergents can degrade the non-stick coating over time.
Some plastic utensils, particularly those made of low-quality or melamine plastic, can become warped, discolored, or damaged in the dishwasher's high heat.
Utensils with intricate designs, handles, or decorations, such as those with gemstones, wooden accents, or delicate artwork, may be prone to damage in the dishwasher.
