What can you feed pigeons

For pigeons (granivorous species) - barley, wheat, barley, seeds, buckwheat, millet, peas, lentils and other dry cereals.

What is not suitable for feeding pigeons

This can lead to infection with various infections, sometimes very dangerous for humans.

Pigeons carry over 90 infections, 10 of which are easily transmitted from birds to humans. The most famous of them is ornithosis (psittacosis, parrot disease). Moreover: tuberculosis, encephalitis, salmonellosis, toxoplasmosis and bird flu.

Infections are most often transmitted by contact, and sometimes by airborne droplets. As a rule, pigeon droppings are the source of infectious agents. Accordingly, upon contact with birds or their feces, without washing your hands after that, you can get an infection into the body when swallowed.
