Birds produce a wide range of sounds, and some species are renowned for their loud vocalizations.

It's sometimes hard to believe how loud their voices can actually be.

Here are a few examples of birds known for their volume.

Screaming Piha

Found in the rainforests of Central and South America, the Screaming Piha lives up to its name with a distinctive, piercing call that can be heard over long distances.

It is one of the loudest birds in the world, capable of producing ear-piercing screams that reverberate through the forest.

African Fish Eagle

This large bird of prey is known for its resonant, powerful call that resembles a high-pitched, echoing scream.

Found near water bodies across sub-Saharan Africa, the African Fish Eagle's call is often associated with the sounds of the African wilderness.

Tawny Frogmouth

Despite its name, the Tawny Frogmouth is not actually a frog or an owl but a bird species native to Australia.

They produce a distinctive booming call that is particularly loud and resonant during the breeding season.

Their call can carry across the nighttime landscape.

Australian Magpie

This iconic Australian bird is known for its beautiful melodic songs.

The male magpies often produce loud, melodious calls, especially during breeding season, to establish territory and attract mates.
