If you love growing plants simply because they're beautiful, then you can try growing some garden trees indoors - just as decorations!
While it's not always easy to provide perfect conditions to all garden plants indoors, it's totally possible for people who know some tricks.
Here are some of these tricks you can use too.
Select the Right Pot
Use a pot with good drainage. It should be about 2 inches larger in diameter than the current root system of the tree.
Make sure it's made of a material that doesn't let the roots get too hot or cold.
Soil Selection
Use a high-quality, well-draining potting mix designed for indoor plants.
You can also add a layer of small rocks or perlite at the bottom of the pot to enhance drainage.
Light Requirements
Place your tree in a location with bright, indirect sunlight. Different trees have different light requirements, so research your specific tree's needs.
If you don't have enough natural light, consider using full-spectrum grow lights.
Watering Practices
Check the moisture level in the soil regularly. Water your tree when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
Use a saucer under the pot to catch excess water and avoid root rot.
Humidity Management
You can mist the tree's leaves regularly or place a tray of water and pebbles near the tree. Grouping plants together can also help raise humidity.
Fertilization
During the growing season, typically spring and summer, feed your tree with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks.
Pruning and Training
Prune your tree as needed to maintain its shape and encourage healthy growth.
You can also use stakes or ties to support the tree's growth and maintain an attractive form.
Repotting
As your tree grows, it may become root-bound in its current pot.
Repot it into a slightly larger container with fresh potting soil every 2-3 years or when you see signs of crowding.
