Before cleaning, it is important to know the type of screen your computer has.
See the manufacturer's cleaning guide.
For cleaning, use non-aggressive cleaners that are designed specifically for screens.
Special cleaning products are sold in hardware stores.
How to properly clean a laptop or computer screen
There are basic precautions in screen cleaning technique:
- Do not use paper towels to clean screens. They are too hard and scratch the surface of the computer.
- Choose microfiber cloths. This fabric is the softest for screens and does not leave lint.
- Avoid using tap water for cleansing. Tap water is too hard, minerals can damage the surface of the screen and leave microcracks.
- Do not spray water or cleanser directly on a laptop or computer screen.
- Do not rub the screen or other surfaces too roughly.
- Never use bleach, washing powder or ammonia.
- Clean up your computer when it's unplugged.
