Some foods can cause severe heartburn, but other foods can help you fight it.

Knowing about these foods can help you avoid lots of problems and stay healthy and active.

Use these foods to feel better whenever you feel heartburn.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a whole grain that is gentle on your stomach. It can absorb excess stomach acid and provide relief from heartburn.

Opt for plain oatmeal without added sugar.

Ginger

Ginger is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It can help soothe your digestive system and reduce the chances of acid reflux.

You can consume ginger as tea, in recipes, or even chew on a small piece of fresh ginger.

Non-citrus fruits

Fruits like bananas, melons, and apples are naturally low in acid and can help soothe your stomach.

They provide essential nutrients and are less likely to trigger heartburn compared to citrus fruits like oranges and lemons.

Lean meats and seafood

Lean sources of protein, such as skinless poultry, fish, and lean cuts of meat, are easier on your stomach and less likely to cause acid reflux compared to fatty or fried meats.

Vegetables

Non-acidic vegetables like spinach, kale, green beans, and broccoli are excellent choices.

They are rich in vitamins and minerals without aggravating heartburn.

Rice and couscous

These grains are bland and easy on your stomach. They can help absorb excess stomach acid and provide a feeling of fullness.

Aloe vera juice

Aloe vera has natural anti-inflammatory properties. Drinking aloe vera juice can help soothe an irritated esophagus and reduce heartburn symptoms.

Be sure to choose aloe vera juice specifically prepared for internal use.

Chewing gum

Chewing gum increases saliva production, which can help neutralize stomach acid. Opt for sugar-free gum to avoid unnecessary sugar intake.
