Tigridia pavonia blooms from July to September, forming from each corm up to 3-5 peduncles about 45 cm high.

About 5 buds appear on each peduncle.

How to plant tigridia

At the end of March they need to be planted in a container with light soil.

Up to 4 tigridia bulbs are placed in one small pot to a depth of at least 3 cm, after which they need to be watered moderately for several weeks.

As they sprout, the volume of water for irrigation should be increased so that the moisture reaches the roots.

How to care for tigridia

The soil for tigridia should be light and loose, well-drained, not acidic and moderately moist.

Soil that is too dense should be dug up with sand or sawdust to make it loose.

The site must be protected from harsh winds.

Tigridia in open ground needs regular watering, and in dry times - daily, and surface moisture will not do anything.

Fertilizing: If fertilizers were added to the soil when preparing the site, fertilizing will not be necessary.

Preparing for winter and storing tigridia bulbs

In the fall, after the above-ground part of the plant has withered, stop watering.

Before the first frost, or better yet in advance, dig up the plants.
