Post-concussion syndrome is a complication of traumatic brain injury.
It is a common consequence of concussion and is less commonly diagnosed in other TBIs.
Symptoms of a concussion
The victim complains of memory loss, dizziness, tinnitus, double vision, intense headache, nausea leading to vomiting, and fatigue. There is sleep disturbance, daytime sleepiness, irritability, and emotional lability.
What are the signs of post-concussion syndrome
The syndrome often causes dizziness, migraines, irritability, increased fatigue, apathy, minor intellectual deficits, and changes in character.
ACL is thought to be more common in people who have had more than one concussion.
Treatment of post-concussion syndrome
As a rule, the symptoms of the syndrome disappear after 3–6 months.
Treatment includes pharmacotherapy and psychotherapeutic techniques.
