Pasta isn't only popular in Italy - it's one of the easiest and most delicious dishes in the world.

While you can experiment with different kinds of pasta, a few mistakes can make your dish taste worse than it could.

Here are some mistakes you should fix to cook amazing pasta.

Insufficient Water

Make sure to use a large pot with plenty of water to allow the pasta to move freely while cooking.

Not Salting the Water

Add a generous amount of salt to the boiling water before adding the pasta. It helps to enhance the flavor of the pasta itself.

Adding Pasta Too Early or Late

Adding the pasta too early can result in overcooked and mushy noodles, while adding it too late can lead to undercooked and chewy pasta.

Overcooking or Undercooking

Follow the instructions on the pasta packaging as a general guide, but taste the pasta a few minutes before the recommended cooking time.

Pasta should be cooked al dente, which means it should have a slight bite and firmness.

Not Stirring the Pasta

Stir gently with a long fork or a pasta spoon to separate the noodles and ensure even cooking.

Draining Pasta Too Much or Too Little

After cooking, drain the pasta promptly but avoid rinsing it with water.

Letting pasta sit in the colander for too long can cause it to become dry and sticky.

Instead, transfer the pasta directly to the sauce or toss it with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
