These delightful animals are the product of artificial selection, and first appeared in Canada in the seventies of the last century as a result of a mutation.

Skinnies, or hairless guinea pigs, are becoming increasingly popular among hobby enthusiasts, not least because of their unusual appearance.

Pigs are fed mainly with hay, special mixtures, small portions of vegetables and herbs - lettuce, carrots, apples, cucumbers.

With proper nutrition and care, guinea pigs can live for at least eight years.

Care

Guinea pigs do not require special care at home. It is recommended to feed the animals 2-3 times a day and make sure that the water in the drinker is clean and not stagnant.

The litter should be changed twice a week, cleaning the cage takes 10-15 minutes. As you can see, there are no special requirements.

How to feed a hairless guinea pig

Skinny and Baldwin guinea pigs need a regular supply of vitamin C because they cannot synthesize it on their own.

The most delicious delicacy for pigs will be pieces of apples, nuts, rose hips. Once a week, you can pamper your pet with rye crackers.
