Sea buckthorn loves light and moisture, but does not like too much water.

Therefore, sunny areas of the garden are chosen for its cultivation, and more frequent watering is provided to replenish the need for moisture.

How to grow

Sea buckthorn should be planted when the leaves begin to fall.

This means that the plant goes dormant and will quietly overwinter.

Sea buckthorn tolerates frost and cold well, so there is no need to insulate it.

You can plant this shrub in the spring - no later than April, before active growth begins.

In order for it to bear fruit well, you need to plant not one, but two trees: a female tree (with berries) and a male tree (without berries). To pollinate sea buckthorn flowers, a male tree is needed.

What to do if the area is already completely planted?

You can graft a cutting from a male tree onto one of the branches of a female tree.

In the shade the bush grows much slower and produces less fruit.

The plant should be planted away from other plantings.

How to water a sea buckthorn piece

Sea buckthorn loves water. Water the plant once every 10 days - in cool, dry summers.

In hot weather, watering must be increased. Monitor the condition of the soil in tree trunk circles.

The soil should be constantly well moistened.
