A microwave oven is an extremely convenient kitchen appliance, but it has some limitations.
For instance, there are a few types of dishes you can't use in it - it can be dangerous!
Here are some examples of dishes you better only use in a regular oven.
Metal containers
Avoid using metal dishes or containers in the microwave.
Metal can cause sparks or fires because it reflects the microwaves instead of absorbing them.
Foil or aluminum wraps
Similarly, avoid using aluminum foil or aluminum wraps in the microwave.
They can create sparks and potentially damage the microwave.
Plastic containers not labeled "microwave-safe"
Some plastics can melt or release harmful chemicals when heated in the microwave.
Look for containers that are specifically labeled as "microwave-safe" before using them.
Styrofoam and plastic foam
Styrofoam containers and plastic foam cups should not be used in the microwave.
They can melt, warp, and release harmful substances when heated.
Paper bags and newspapers
Microwave ovens can cause paper bags and newspapers to catch fire due to the high heat they generate.
Dishes with metal trim or decorations
Avoid using dishes with metal trim, gold or silver accents, or decorative elements that contain metal.
The metal parts can cause sparks and damage the microwave.
Ceramic dishes with metallic glaze
Some ceramic dishes have metallic glazes that can react with the microwaves, causing potential damage to the dish and the microwave.
