Narcissism can manifest itself differently for both men and women in relationships.
What is narcissism
Narcissism is a personality accentuation or mental disorder that is characterized by a person’s inflated self-esteem, exaggerated sense of superiority and egocentrism.
Typically, people with narcissism tend to manipulate others and often lie about their achievements and successes.
Narcissists also often lack empathy for other people, put others down, and are attention-seeking.
Research result
According to a study from the University of Southampton and the City of London, Unmasking Gender Differences in Narcissism within the
Framework of Intimate Partner Violence, narcissism manifests itself differently in women and men in relationships.
Scientists studied 328 adult women and men.
According to the results, men scored higher in grandiose narcissism, and women scored higher in vulnerable narcissism.
This means that women are more likely to display their narcissistic traits modestly, while men exhibit exaggerated narcissism.
Previously, we talked about why people can cheat in happy relationships.
