Ferrets are social animals who love playing and interacting with others, so lots of people keep multiple ferrets at once.

The thing is, these animals need lots of space and toys to be happy, so you have to make a huge aviary for them.

Here are some tips on how to do it.

Choose the Right Cage

Select a spacious cage with multiple levels, ramps, and platforms.

Ferrets love to climb and explore, so a multi-level cage provides ample space for their activities.

Ensure Proper Ventilation

Opt for a cage with good ventilation to prevent odors from building up. Adequate airflow is essential for your ferrets' health and comfort.

Use Safe Flooring

Avoid wire flooring, as it can be hard on your ferrets' feet.

Choose solid flooring or cover wire shelves with soft, washable bedding.

Provide Hideaways

Ferrets need private spaces to rest and feel secure. Offer cozy hideaways or hammocks where they can relax and sleep.

Include Litter Boxes

Place litter boxes in the cage to encourage good litter habits. Ferrets can be litter-trained, making cage maintenance easier.

Add Toys and Enrichment

Ferrets are active and curious, so supply toys, tunnels, and objects to stimulate their minds. Rotate toys regularly to keep them engaged.

Maintain Cleanliness

Clean the cage and litter boxes regularly to prevent odors and maintain a healthy environment. Ferrets can be messy, so frequent cleaning is essential.

Regular Playtime

Ferrets require daily play and interaction outside of their cage. Allow them to explore a ferret-proofed area to burn off energy.

Safety First

Ensure the aviary is ferret-proofed to prevent escapes or access to hazardous items. Cover electrical cords, block small openings, and secure doors.

Socialize and Bond

Spend time with your ferrets daily to build a strong bond. They thrive on human interaction and companionship.
