Diet can affect both physical and mental health.
According to a study published in the journal Nutrition, Health & Aging, including fruit in your diet may reduce the risk of depression.
Scientists analyzed data from almost 14,000 people and concluded that people who ate more fruit had a lower risk of developing depression.
Those subjects who ate three servings of fruit daily had a 21% lower risk of depression than those who ate one serving per day.
This is probably due to the fact that fruits contain many antioxidants that stop inflammation in the body.
Interestingly, vegetable consumption was not associated with a reduced risk of age-related depression.
However, depression is a complex condition, and it is difficult to argue that eating fruit alone can reduce your risk of developing it.
