Zucchini is an early ripening crop, so in the middle zone the seeds can be sown immediately in open ground.

The fruits of early-ripening zucchini are ready for harvesting 35–45 days after germination, mid-ripening ones - after 50-60 days, late-ripening ones - after 60 days or more. When sowing in July, choose early varieties.

Usually, zucchini is sown in open ground after the end of spring return frosts - at the end of May - beginning of June in a warm bed.

The soil temperature should not be lower than + 16 degrees, and the air temperature - +21 degrees, otherwise the seed will not hatch for a long time.

How to get a good harvest of zucchini

Zucchini loves organic matter, so experienced gardeners recommend sowing them in warm compost beds or in warm holes.

When planting on a compost heap (due to fermentation inside), the soil seems to be warmed up.

Thanks to this, the zucchini will grow, even if the snow around has not yet melted.

If you don’t know how and how much to water zucchini, assume that the soil should always be slightly moist.

The optimal amount of watering is at least 2 times a week.

Under no circumstances should the plant be left in dry, cracked soil.
