If you love coffee and use your coffee maker regularly, then you should probably clean it regularly as well.

It's not just about cleaning the filters, but also about cleaning its surface from water stains.

Here's how you can do it safely.

Unplug and Empty

First, ensure your coffee maker is unplugged for safety. Then, remove any leftover coffee and water from the machine.

This includes the coffee pot and the water reservoir.

Mix the Cleaning Solution

In a container, mix equal parts of white vinegar and water.

For example, if your coffee maker's water reservoir holds 6 cups of water, mix 3 cups of water with 3 cups of white vinegar.

This mixture acts as a natural descaler to remove water stains.

Fill the Water Reservoir

Pour the vinegar and water mixture into your coffee maker's water reservoir, where you usually add water.

This solution will break down the mineral deposits causing the water stains.

Start a Brewing Cycle

Place the coffee pot back in its spot, and turn on the coffee maker.

Run a brewing cycle as if you were making a pot of coffee.

The vinegar and water mixture will circulate through the coffee maker's internal components, cleaning them. Let it sit for 30 minutes.

Rinse with Plain Water

After you've used the vinegar mixture, run a few cycles with plain water.

This rinses out any remaining vinegar and ensures there's no vinegar taste in your coffee.

Wipe Down the Exterior

To clean the coffee maker's exterior and any parts that may have water stains, use a damp cloth with a small amount of baking soda.

Baking soda acts as a gentle abrasive to remove any remaining stains.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can effectively remove water stains from your coffee maker, keeping it clean and ensuring that your coffee tastes fresh.
