Housekeeping tips: Clean your gamepad safely

When taking good care of your electronic devices, you should be twice as careful, so you won't break them.

Items like gamepads are usually well-protected from accidental spills and dust, but they still can be easily damaged.

Here are a few tips on how to clean them safely.

Turn Off Your Gamepad

Before cleaning, make sure your gamepad is turned off. This prevents any accidental button presses while cleaning.

Remove Batteries or Disconnect

If your gamepad uses batteries, take them out. If it's rechargeable, make sure it's disconnected from any charging cables.

Use a Soft Cloth

Grab a soft, clean cloth. This could be a microfiber cloth or any lint-free cloth. Avoid using paper towels, as they can leave bits of paper.

Dampen the Cloth Slightly

Moisten the cloth slightly with water. Make sure it's not dripping wet; you want it damp, not soaked.

Wipe Gently

Wipe the surface of your gamepad gently. 

Pay attention to areas that are touched frequently, like buttons and thumbsticks.

Q-Tips for Crevices

For any small crevices or areas around buttons, you can use a Q-tip slightly dampened with water. 

Be cautious not to let water seep into the device.

Dry Thoroughly

After wiping, let your gamepad air dry. Ensure it's completely dry before turning it back on or reconnecting it.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Don't use strong cleaning chemicals. Water is generally enough for routine cleaning. 

Harsh chemicals can damage the surface.

Handle With Care

Be gentle while cleaning, and avoid pressing too hard on buttons or any sensitive areas.
