The world is so fast-paced these days, and we are constantly surrounded by tons of information.

A new study explains why it's hard to stay focused when using digital technology.

It's not just because there's too much information online; it's because our minds love new and exciting things, and digital tech provides that.

Our brains are constantly excited

Tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Apple make their platforms full of interesting stuff that grabs our attention.

It's not that we're overloaded with information; it's that our brains are always looking for something new and exciting.

When you feel the urge to check your email or social media, it's not because you're overwhelmed.

Your brain craves novelty. Digital tech gives you that novelty quickly and easily.

With just a few taps on your phone, you get a rewarding new piece of information.

Digital tech is perfect for this because it's effortless, and the content is always changing.

In a library with tons of books, you wouldn't develop a habit of checking a specific book because it's too much work.

Plus, book content doesn't change like digital stuff does.

The problem is that our minds and digital tech don't match.

It takes time to adapt

Our brains aren't used to these frictionless, always-changing digital environments.

To deal with it, we might need to limit our exposure to digital distractions, like checking emails only twice a day.

In the future, we might look back and wonder how we managed all the digital distractions we have today.
