Are peppers and tomatoes suitable for companion growing
Plants will thrive if they have enough space, water and nutrients. Peppers and tomatoes can be planted side by side, if you follow some rules:
- Provide enough space: 12-24 inches between plants and 2-3 feet between rows. Plants will not grow large in containers.
- Don't forget the stakes. Plants are important to maintain and prevent falling.
- Cut off the bottom leaves. This procedure provides the tomatoes with access to oxygen.
- Nutrients. Add diluted liquid fish or kelp amendment every 2 weeks through the main growing season.
- Plant other plants nearby. For example, parsley, lettuce, dill.
- Do not over water. Choose drip irrigation or hoses.
Peppers and tomatoes can be grown together if you keep in mind the correct watering, the distance between plants and fertilizers.
