Sesame takes 100-135 days to reach maturity, and growing seedlings indoors guarantees a successful harvest in the middle zone.
In our climate, sesame seeds cannot be sown directly in open ground.
How to sow sesame
Seeds are sown in well-warmed soil - up to +16 - +20°C, when the threat of spring frosts has passed.
The place must be sunny, since sesame is a heat-loving plant.
In well-moistened soil, furrows are made, the distance between which is 50-60 cm. Planting depth is 2-3 cm.
When is sesame harvested
The winter sesame harvest (October-November) is called Natural white.
The summer sesame harvest (February-May) is called Natural black.
Sesame seeds are yellow, white or black and have a mild, nut-like aroma.
Sesame is washed before peeling.
How to germinate sesame seeds at home
The seeds should be soaked for 4-12 hours, then drain the water and cover the container with the seeds with a lid, providing a small air flow inside so that the seeds do not suffocate.
It is necessary to ensure that the seeds remain moist and spray them with a spray bottle several times a day.
