While being mostly harmless, moles can sometimes create lots of problems for gardeners.

These tiny animals can create lots of tunnels in your garden and damage plant roots, so it's better to repel them.

Here are a few things you can do if you have lots of moles in your garden.

Identify the problem

Look for signs of mole activity, such as raised tunnels or mounds of soil in your garden.

This will help confirm if moles are indeed the cause of the problem.

Remove attractants

Moles are often attracted to areas with an abundance of insects, their primary food source.

Consider reducing the population of insects in your garden to make it less appealing to moles.

This can be done by using insecticides or natural pest control methods.

Create barriers

Installing barriers, like underground mesh or fences, can help prevent moles from entering specific areas of your garden.

These barriers should extend at least a foot below the ground to be effective.

Encourage natural predators

Certain animals, such as owls, hawks, or domesticated pets like cats, can help control mole populations.

Encouraging these natural predators to visit your garden may deter moles from settling in.

Mole repellents

There are various mole repellents available, including castor oil-based products or ultrasonic devices.

These repellents may help discourage moles from staying in your garden, but their effectiveness can vary.

Previously, we talked about dangerous berries.
