When looking for something to play with, kids can accidentally hurt themselves – so everything can be dangerous to them.
Some objects are clearly dangerous, but even seemingly harmless things can be a threat when your kid is curious and playful.
Here are a few examples of everyday objects your kid should be careful with.
Small Objects
Little things like buttons, coins, or small toys can be a choking hazard for small children. Keep them out of reach.
Plastic Bags
Kids might think they're fun to play with, but plastic bags can be risky.
They can accidentally cover a child's face and make it hard to breathe.
Cords and Strings
Blind cords, curtain strings, or any long cords can be dangerous. Kids might accidentally get tangled in them, leading to accidents.
Medicine and Cleaning Products
Keep all medicines and cleaning stuff up high and out of sight. Kids might think they're like candy, but they can be harmful.
Hot Drinks
Kids can be curious and might grab hot drinks. Keep hot liquids away from the edges of tables where little hands can reach.
Small Batteries
Button batteries are in many household items. They are small and easy for kids to swallow. Make sure items with these batteries are safely secured.
Open Windows
Windows can be a hazard if they are low to the ground. Kids might accidentally fall out. Use window guards or locks.
Unstable Furniture
Kids might try to climb on furniture. Make sure bookshelves, dressers, and other heavy furniture are secured to the wall to prevent tipping.
Pets
While pets can be wonderful, they might not always understand how to play gently with kids. Always supervise interactions between pets and young children.
Uncovered Outlets
Cover electrical outlets with safety plugs. Kids might stick things in them, and that can be dangerous.
