Wooden furniture can last for many years, but sometimes it can break or chip - so you have to fix it.

Luckily, sometimes you can fix your chipped wooden furniture on your own without hiring a professional.

Here's how you can do it.

Prepare the Area

Start by cleaning the chipped area. Remove any loose wood splinters, dirt, or old finish to create a clean surface for the repair.

Apply Wood Glue

Squeeze a small amount of wood glue into the chipped area.

Use a putty knife or a similar tool to spread the glue evenly over the damaged area. Make sure the glue fills the gap created by the chip.

Press and Clamp

Press the chipped part gently back into place. If the chip is significant, you may need to use clamps to hold the piece in position while the glue dries.

Follow the glue manufacturer's instructions for drying time.

Sand the Surface

Once the glue has dried completely, use medium-grit sandpaper to sand the repaired area.

Sand in the direction of the wood grain to create a smooth and even surface.

You want the repaired section to blend seamlessly with the rest of the furniture.

Fine Sanding

Switch to a finer-grit sandpaper to further smoothen the surface. This helps remove any roughness left by the medium-grit sandpaper.

Continue sanding until the repaired area feels as smooth as the surrounding wood.

Apply Paint or Stain

If your furniture is painted or stained, use a paint or wood stain that matches the color of the rest of your furniture.

Apply it to the repaired area, making sure it blends well with the surrounding wood. Let it dry according to the product's instructions.

Conclusion

That's it! Your chipped wooden furniture should look much better after following these steps.

Just be patient and allow for proper drying times to ensure a successful repair.
