One of the simplest, but also the most delicious dishes is a casserole, and especially the potato one!

The best thing about this dish is that it's extremely easy to cook - you just need to know some tips.

Here are a few tricks that will make your potato casserole amazing.

Choose the Right Potatoes

Opt for starchy potatoes like Russets, as they yield a creamy texture in the casserole.

Peel and slice them uniformly for even cooking.

Precook Potatoes

Parboil or microwave the potato slices briefly before assembling the casserole.

This helps them cook evenly in the oven and reduces overall baking time.

Layering is Key

Arrange potato slices in even layers to ensure consistent cooking.

This prevents some parts from being undercooked while others are overdone.

Season Each Layer

Sprinkle salt, pepper, and any desired herbs or spices between the potato layers.

This adds flavor throughout the casserole rather than just on the top.

Add Creaminess

Pour a mixture of milk, cream, or broth over the potato layers.

This adds moisture and richness to the casserole. You can also add grated cheese for extra flavor.

Experiment with Flavors

Consider adding ingredients like caramelized onions, garlic, or herbs between the potato layers to enhance the overall taste of the casserole.

Cover While Baking

Cover the casserole with foil for the first part of baking to trap steam and ensure the potatoes cook through.

Uncover during the last part to achieve a golden, crispy top.

Rest Before Serving

Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes after baking.

This helps the flavors meld, and it makes it easier to slice without falling apart.

Recently, we have talked about blueberries.
