Toxic people aren't always easy to detect - they tend to hide their real self, so they can get what they want from people around them.

Meanwhile, some signs can actually help you recognize a toxic person, so you can stay away from them.

Let's learn more about them.

Trust Your Feelings

Pay attention to your gut feelings when you meet someone new.

If something doesn't feel right or you feel uncomfortable around them, it's a sign to be cautious.

Boundary Pushing

Toxic individuals may disregard your personal boundaries.

If someone consistently invades your personal space, ignores your limits, or pressures you to do things you're uncomfortable with, it's a warning sign.

Drama and Conflict

Toxic people often bring drama and conflict wherever they go.

If you notice that someone frequently starts arguments, gossips, or thrives on chaos, be cautious.

Lack of Empathy

Pay attention to how they treat others, especially those who are vulnerable or going through difficult times.

Toxic people may lack empathy and show little compassion for others' struggles.

Manipulation

Watch for signs of manipulation, such as guilt-tripping, gaslighting, or trying to control your decisions.

Manipulative behavior can be a clear indicator of toxicity.

Constant Criticism

Toxic individuals may criticize you excessively, making you feel inadequate or worthless.

If you always feel like you're doing something wrong, it's a red flag.

Self-Centeredness

Pay attention to how often the person talks about themselves and their needs without showing interest in your thoughts or feelings.

Self-centeredness is a common trait of toxic people.

Inconsistent Behavior

If someone's behavior is inconsistent and unpredictable, it can be a sign of toxicity. They may be friendly one moment and hostile the next.

Blame Game

They tend to avoid taking responsibility for their actions and instead blame others. If they're always making excuses and pointing fingers, it's a sign of toxicity.
