Here are some things you can do to prevent this.

Keep your cat indoors

The most effective way to prevent your cat from hunting birds is to keep them indoors. 

Indoor cats are not only safer from various dangers like traffic, diseases, and predators but also unable to prey on wildlife.

Provide entertainment and enrichment

Cats have natural hunting instincts, so it's important to provide them with interactive toys, puzzle feeders, and opportunities to engage in play. 

This will help satisfy their hunting instincts and keep them mentally stimulated.

Use a leash or harness

If you'd like to give your cat some outdoor time, consider using a leash or harness. 

This allows your cat to explore while under your control, reducing their impact on local wildlife.

Collar with a bell

While not foolproof, attaching a bell to your cat's collar may make it slightly more challenging for them to stalk and catch birds. 

However, some cats can learn to move quietly to avoid making noise with the bell, so it may not be completely effective.

Bird-friendly landscaping

If you have a garden or outdoor space, consider planting bird-friendly vegetation and providing bird feeders away from areas accessible to your cat. 

This can help attract birds to areas where they are less likely to encounter your cat.

Monitor your cat's behavior

Keep an eye on your cat's hunting habits and intervene when necessary. 

If you see your cat stalking or chasing birds, redirect their attention to a toy or activity.

Spay or neuter your cat
