Nutrition is one of the most important factors for a happy and long life for your pet. In this article, we will talk about the fact that homemade cat food may not be so healthy.
According to a study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, homemade cat food is nutritionally deficient.
The scientists analyzed 114 recipes that were not written by veterinarians or animal nutritionists.
Nearly half of the recipes had no feeding instructions, and others lacked specifics.
None of the recipes included all the nutrients needed to keep cats healthy.
This is fraught with a deficiency of nutrients and vitamins in the pet. Many recipes didn't even have half of the recommended daily allowance for cats: iron, zinc, manganese, vitamin E.
In addition, some recipes contained foods toxic to cats: garlic, onions, and bones.
