Cats are what we call "crepuscular" animals. So, when it's nighttime, many cats feel really awake and ready to play.

It might feel a bit uncomfortable for their owners, though - cats can be pretty noisy while playing at night.

You should know that your cat has no goal to irritate you or to interrupt your sleep - it's just a part of who they are.

Tiny fluffy hunters

Cats are natural hunters, and they prefer to do their hunting when it's a bit dark outside.

In the wild, many small animals they like to catch, like mice, come out at night. So, it's in their genes to be more active when it's dark.

Cool nights

Nights are usually cooler than the hot daytime, and cats like the cooler air. It's more comfortable for them to be active when it's not too hot.

It's quiet and soothing

Nights are generally quieter than the busy daytime.

There are fewer people and other animals making noise, which makes it a calmer time for cats to explore and play.

More time for their cat business

During the day, cats might get distracted by things happening around the house.

But at night, it's quieter, and they can focus on their own activities.

So, when your cat decides to be wide awake and playful at night, it's because their natural instincts and preferences kick in during those hours.

It's a bit like how some people are night owls and feel more active and creative in the evening.
