Animals that don't sleep much: Nature is amazing

While some animals like cats and sloths can sleep for many hours daily, some animals sleep quite a little.

It's quite surprising, because they've adapted to feel fine and stay energetic while having so little rest.

Let's see what animals can stay awake while never sleeping much.

Giraffes

These tall animals sleep the least among mammals. They only take short naps, usually lasting around 4.6 hours a day.

They often sleep while standing, and their naps are brief to stay alert for predators.

Elephants

Elephants don't sleep much either. They only sleep for about 3-4 hours a day.

They might take short naps while standing, but they're known to sleep lying down for a bit during the night.

Bullfrogs

These amphibians are known for being active at night and resting during the day.

Bullfrogs, in particular, sleep very little, sometimes only a few hours a day.

Horses

Horses usually sleep for a short time while standing.

They have a unique ability called "stay apparatus" that allows them to lock their legs to take a quick nap without fully lying down.

Great White Sharks

Unlike most fish, sharks need to keep swimming to breathe.

Great White Sharks sleep by gliding through the water with their eyes open.

It's not a deep sleep, and they rest one part of their brain at a time.

Alpine Swifts

These birds are known for their incredible flying abilities.

During their migration, some alpine swifts can stay in the air for months without landing.

They take short naps while flying, which adds up to very little sleep.
