Watering is extremely important for potatoes. How to water vegetables correctly?
How not to water potatoes
Excessive watering after germination is extremely dangerous for potatoes.
Otherwise, the plant will develop a superficial root system. Overwatering will make the crop more vulnerable to high temperatures and drought.
You should also avoid watering until the seedlings become 10 cm tall.
A clear signal that potatoes need moisture as much as possible is the period when buds appear or the first flowers are just blooming.
It is important to know that if at this moment the potatoes do not have enough watering, you can lose up to a third of the crop.
How to water potatoes correctly
Potatoes need to be watered approximately every 3-5 days after germination. The norm is 2-3 liters per bush.
Given the hot weather in June, in order to reduce moisture loss from the soil due to evaporation, it is best to water the potatoes late in the evening in 2 doses.
Experienced gardeners recommend, if possible, watering potatoes about once every 10 days if the weather is dry.
To check the moisture, stick your finger under the soil. If the soil is dry, then it is worth watering the plant.
