To create a home design, it is important to understand the interior styles and understand which one is closest to you. Therefore, we have prepared a brief description and features of the Baroque style.
What is baroque
The Baroque style in the interior is lush, pompous, pretentious, which fully corresponds to its name: barocco - “artsy”, “prone to excesses”.
Unlike classicism, the baroque interior flaunts wealth, demonstrates immoderate luxury, which can be seen in literally every element.
In the modern interpretation of the baroque, it remains the same exaggerated, eccentric.
Everything in it is “too much”, but at the same time, the unpredictable, extravagant style in general causes a positive attitude.
The hallmark of baroque spaces is golden stucco on all surfaces. Doorways, headboards, mirror frames, furniture cases, columns, porticos, niches, ceiling rosettes - any plane will be covered with stucco and shine.
At the same time, stucco molding is often contrasting, gilded on a white, green, burgundy background or white on a red, blue, gold surface.
The modern baroque interior also loves stucco, but uses it in a dosed, accurate way.
These are the main features of the Baroque style in the interior.
