Unpleasant odors can make your house unwelcoming and repelling regardless of how modern and stylish it is.

You can always try using chemicals to make your house smell nice, but there are also plenty of chemical-free options you can try.

Here are a few ideas that you can use to add a pleasant smell to your house.

Open windows and let in fresh air

Fresh air can help circulate and replace stagnant air, reducing odors in your home. Open windows and doors to allow for natural ventilation.

Use baking soda

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer.

Place open containers of baking soda around your house or sprinkle it on carpets, upholstery, or other surfaces affected by odors.

Leave it for some time and then vacuum or wipe away.

Try vinegar

Vinegar is another effective natural odor absorber.

Place small bowls of vinegar in areas with strong smells or use a mixture of vinegar and water to wipe down surfaces.

Use coffee grounds

Coffee grounds can help absorb unpleasant odors.

Place dry coffee grounds in bowls or open containers and leave them in areas where odors are present.

Replace the coffee grounds regularly.

Simmer natural ingredients

Create a pleasant aroma by simmering natural ingredients, such as citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, cloves, or herbs, in water on the stovetop.

The steam will release a refreshing scent throughout your home.

Utilize activated charcoal

Activated charcoal is excellent at absorbing odors.

Place activated charcoal in bowls or sachets and position them in areas with persistent smells.

Clean regularly

Regular cleaning plays a significant role in eliminating odors.

Clean surfaces, floors, and fabrics using natural cleaning agents like vinegar, lemon juice, or baking soda.

Use natural air fresheners

Instead of using chemical-based air fresheners, opt for natural alternatives.

Place bowls of dried flowers, potpourri, or essential oils mixed with water in rooms to add a pleasant scent.
