Dressers are extremely convenient for most people, but sometimes they can break – and the drawers are the most vulnerable parts.
When your dresser is overloaded, then your drawer guides can break, so you won't be able to open or close them.
Here are a few tips on how to fix it.
Remove the drawer
Take out the drawer from the dresser by pulling it out completely.
Be careful not to force it or cause any damage.
Inspect the guides
Examine the drawer guides, which are the tracks or rails on which the drawer slides.
Look for any visible damage, such as broken or bent parts, loose screws, or debris lodged in the tracks.
Clean the guides
Use a soft cloth or a brush to remove any dirt, dust, or debris from the guides.
Wipe them clean to ensure smooth movement.
Lubricate the guides
Apply a small amount of lubricant, such as silicone spray or paraffin wax, to the drawer guides.
This helps reduce friction and allows the drawer to glide more smoothly.
Adjust the guides
Check if the guides are properly aligned.
If they are misaligned, loosen the screws holding them in place and gently adjust them until they are straight and level.
Tighten the screws securely afterward.
Test the drawer
Carefully slide the drawer back into the dresser, ensuring that it aligns properly with the guides.
Move the drawer in and out to see if the issue has been resolved.
If it still doesn't work well, consider repeating the steps or seeking further assistance.
