A beautiful bouquet can make your room look and smell amazing for a few days, but some flowers tend to die too quickly.
If you want to keep a bouquet fresh for a longer time, then you need to know some tricks.
Here are some of them.
Cut the Stems
Trim about an inch off the bottom of the stems while they are submerged in water to prevent air bubbles from entering the stem.
Water and Clean Vase
Fill a clean vase with lukewarm water and add flower preservative or floral food if it came with your flowers.
Remove Excess Foliage
Leaves and stems left in the water can decompose, promoting bacterial growth and reducing the lifespan of the flowers.
Proper Placement
Avoid placing flowers near fruits or ripening produce, as the ethylene gas emitted by these items can accelerate the aging process of flowers.
Change the Water Regularly
Every two to three days, replace the water in the vase with fresh, lukewarm water.
Remove Faded Flowers
Remove any flowers that start to wilt or fade.
This prevents them from releasing ethylene gas, which can affect the remaining flowers and shorten their lifespan.
Mist and Hydrate
Mist the flowers lightly with water using a spray bottle to provide extra hydration and help maintain their freshness.
Refrigerate Overnight
For certain flowers, such as roses or lilies, you can extend their freshness by placing them in a refrigerator overnight.
