Lots of people are afraid to clean their clothes in a wrong way, because they don't want their items to shrink.

In fact, it can be pretty useful sometimes - for instance, some people shrink their jeans intentionally.

Here are a few reasons for that.

Improper Fit

If your jeans are too loose or have stretched out over time, shrinking them can help achieve a better fit.

Shrinking jeans can make them snugger around the waist, hips, thighs, or overall, providing a more tailored and flattering look.

Preemptive Shrinkage

Some jeans are made from denim that has a tendency to stretch with wear.

If you anticipate that your jeans will stretch out over time, you may choose to shrink them slightly when they are new.

This can help ensure they maintain the desired fit even after repeated wear and washing.

Length Adjustment

If your jeans are too long, and you want to avoid hemming, shrinking them in the washing machine can cause the denim to shrink vertically, resulting in a shorter inseam.

This can be a convenient way to adjust the length without requiring alterations.

Using hot water in the washing machine can cause the fabric to shrink more effectively.
