Sometimes, for various reasons, it can be difficult to get started. In this article, we will share a fail-safe trick that will make you more productive.
Finish the task halfway
For example, if you are writing a book, complete the last sentence only half way. This is how information is best stored in the brain.
Psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik performed a famous experiment in 1927 in which she noticed that waiters were better at remembering complex orders when the order was interrupted or not completed.
However, once the order was completed, the waiters remembered it worse.
This study, known as the Zeigarnik effect, shows that the human brain does not tolerate incompleteness and retains information until the task is completed.
In addition, it generates a higher level of motivation and it is easier to return to an unfinished task next time.
Thus, the brain is ready to continue the work on which it stopped.
If you don't have to finish the work, deliberately end it halfway through. For example, you can end half a slide in a presentation, a line in the text.
Therefore, your work in the morning will be easier and more productive.
