Veterinarian's Opinion: Can Dogs Pears and Apples

Some fruits are safe for dogs as long as the recommended serving size is not exceeded.

Can a dog eat an apple

Apples (1-2 slices). Rich in fiber and protein, this fruit is high in vitamins A and C. Do not give your dog the pith and seeds as they may contain arsenic.

For small breeds - half a fruit per day 2 times a week; medium-sized dogs - 1 piece at the same frequency or a little more often; large breeds - 2 apples a day twice a week; if the pet is large (from 50 kilograms), then it can be consumed 2 pieces three times a week.

Can dogs eat pears

Certainly. We treat pears the same way we treat apples. Pears are a great source of nutrients, but portions should be small and the seeds, cuttings, and core should be removed.

A large pet can be given half a medium green apple, peeled, but a small one will only need a couple of slices. Pears can be given to dogs, but preferably not juicy or sweet varieties.

The benefits of an apple strengthen the immune system and thereby reduce susceptibility to various diseases; contain carotene, food hydroxy acids, essential oils, mineral salts of calcium, iron and phosphorus, which are necessary for the proper functioning of the body; are natural absorbent; acidic varieties are rich in iron and copper salts.
