Old sweat can be extremely hard to get rid of - and it's especially frustrating when your favorite clothes smell awfully.

While it's not hard, it's not impossible - you can make your clothes smell nice once again.

Here are a few tips for you to keep your laundry nice and clean.

Pre-Treatment

Before washing, you can do a pre-treatment. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts water in a spray bottle.

Lightly spray this mixture on the areas with odor, like underarms or collars. Let it sit for a few minutes.

Use the Right Detergent

Choose a good-quality laundry detergent. Look for one that specifically mentions removing odors.

Wash in Cold Water

Use cold water for washing, as hot water can set in the odor.

Extra Rinse

If your washing machine has an extra rinse cycle, use it. This helps to make sure all the detergent and odor are thoroughly rinsed out.

Hang in Fresh Air

After washing, hang your clothes outside in the fresh air and sunlight, if possible. This can help remove any lingering odors.

Baking Soda

You can also add half a cup of baking soda to your laundry. This can help neutralize odors.

Lemon Juice

For white clothes, you can squeeze lemon juice on the odor spots before washing. Lemon has natural deodorizing properties.

Avoid Overloading

Don't stuff too many clothes into your washing machine. Overloading can prevent proper cleaning.

Regular Cleaning

Make sure to wash your clothes regularly. Leaving sweaty clothes unwashed for too long can make the odor harder to remove.

Conclusion

It's always easier to prevent old sweat than to get rid of it, but it's still pretty much possible.

Pretreat sweat stains and use effective cleaning solutions to keep your laundry nice!
