There are plenty of things that can accidentally damage your furniture, whether you try to be careful with it or not.

For instance, you can accidentally damage your furniture's covers while remodeling, replacing, or simply misusing it.

Here are a few signs that the problem has to be fixed.

Tears or Holes

Inspect the cover for any visible tears or holes. These can occur due to accidents, sharp objects, or wear and tear over time.

Fading Color

Overexposure to sunlight or frequent washing can cause the color of the cover to fade.

Check for noticeable changes in color, especially if certain areas appear lighter than others.

Stains that Won't Go Away

Persistent stains that resist normal cleaning efforts may indicate deeper damage or material breakdown.

Investigate the nature of the stains to determine if they are superficial or part of a more significant issue.

Loose Threads

Examine the seams and edges of the cover for loose threads.

Unraveling or fraying threads suggest weakening fabric and may eventually lead to more extensive damage.

Stretching or Shrinking

Changes in the fit of the cover can signal issues.

Excessive stretching might occur with prolonged use, while shrinking may result from improper washing or exposure to heat.

Assess whether the cover still fits the furniture properly.

Material Integrity

Run your hands over the cover to feel for any changes in the texture.

If you notice areas that feel thinner or weaker, it could be a sign of material deterioration.
