A recent study looked at how the way people live affects how well they do their jobs in Japan.

The results showed that not getting enough sleep was the main thing that made work not go well for both men and women.

The study found that men were more likely to have habits that affected their work performance than women.

It's A Problem

In Japan, there's a problem with productivity going down because there are fewer people of working age due to fewer babies being born and more people getting older.

To tackle this, companies are trying to help employees stay healthy and do better at work through "health and productivity management."

However, it hasn't been clear until now which lifestyle habits specifically make Japanese employees do poorly at work and how this differs between men and women.

The study used data from 12,526 employees working for different companies and looked at things like smoking, exercise, diet, alcohol, and sleep habits.

It found that not getting enough sleep was the biggest factor affecting both men and women at work.

It also found that certain habits, like walking slowly, smoking, and skipping breakfast, were linked to worse work performance in men.

Why It's Important

The study suggests that teaching people about good health and making changes at work to help with sleep, exercise, and dinner timing are important.

It also says that support should be tailored to each gender.

Previously, we talked about sleep deprivation.
